Go at your own pace

Put on some music, take a deep breath, notice how you feel without judgement,

set an intention, if you feel yourself tighten up as you draw take deep breaths and remember to enjoy yourself!

Our tiles will look different, the goal is not for it to look like mine but to be guided by the process.

I invite you to write in a journal afterwards, notice how you feel and ask yourself:

What do I like about what I created? What did I enjoy about the Process? What do I want to do more of?

Enjoy yourself, my artist friend!

Zentangle Method Terminology

Tangle - structured pattern, broken down into a step by step process. Not all patterns lend themselves into tangles. Tangles can be desconstructed and are easy to learn, one step at a time!

Deconstruct - To reduce a pattern to its most elemental strokes so a user of the Zentangle Method can recreate, or reconstitute, that pattern (tangle) by repeating those strokes one at a time in a structured sequence.

Tile - paper exclusively made for the Zentangle method. It is a beatiful quality, die-cut from a mould-made, acid-free, 100% cotton, heavy-weight fine artists' paper.

String - a string is a random line drawn in pencil which creates an area in which you draw your tangles. To help explore this process, there are Pre-Strung Tiles available.

Aura - a line that is drawn in parallel to another line. Sometimes I refer to it as an “echo” of the line next to it.

    Fragments

Fragments are a small pattern that you draw inside of a grid. As you will see, it is a fun way to visually morph a fragment when it is combined in different ways.
I am working on a small tile that is 2 in. x 2 in., these are called "Bijou" tiles in the Zentangle world.
You will also notice that I make a mistake towards the end but in true Zentangle fashion that doesn't mean anything! Mistakes are opportunities to think creatively!.... which is a good life motto as well. You will notice how I use shading as a way to draw it into the background.

I hope this helps you to have a relaxing, fun time!
