Series 19/31 - Sadness
In July 2022, I undertook a daily art project creating a Neuro Graphica a Day.
Neuro Graphicas are fascinating to play with. It is a very intuitive art making process that I found to be helpful for several reasons, aside from it being fun. I created on a 4 in. x 4 in. artist tile in mix media. I used Caran d’ Ache pastels, Sakura Koi water based inks and Sakura archival pens in varied thickness, I even experimented with highlighters!
With each piece, I began by thinking of a word or phrase. It can be something that is troubling you or something that you want more of in your life or a phrase that inspires you. I practiced centering just before I began to draw with a few deep breaths, as the process is a way to tap into your subconscious. I was amazed at how some of the words/phrases ended up being interpreted in such an organically, intuitive way.
Each piece is mounted on a wooden block with archival adhesive.
