Work in progress…
I am a work in progress.
Sometimes I have work in progress.
Some of that work is creative projects or entrepreneurial work.
Many times though, I am the work.
I love the idea and concepts in the Zentangle method that teach that process is the goal over the outcome. Often times, drawing these patterns ends in a beautiful picture that looks complicated. Many people comment on these finished pieces look so complex to accomplish. The truth, though, is that these complicated patterns when broken down to each step, each stroke is a simple straight line or curved line. If you can write an I, C, S, O, you can draw complex patterns!
“Anything is possible one stroke at a time”, is the Zentangle motto. I think it’s a pretty good motto for life too! If I focus on one day at a time, one moment at a time I can get through most things. When I am focused on outcomes, I tend to focus on perfection or how I am not good enough for the task at hand, I don’t even give myself a chance to begin! But focusing on the process helps me to be more present, more aware and more gracious with myself.
Through this blog, I hope to share with you, all that I am “progressing” in . I love creating community that normalizes the imperfect and the path least taken. I love progressing, it seems like if I am a finished work, then I have nowhere to go. Mastery is good, but mastering should not mean losing a sense of wonder. or peaking and losing a sense of discovery.
I haven’t figured all of this out yet but it feels good to say it “out loud” here on this page. I am a work in progress! I don’t have it all figured out! Those thoughts are freeing for me. I hope that you find what frees you! Frees you from perfection, despair at the lack of mastery, frees you to keep discovering and growing! Let’s do it together. Let’s journey together.
